I was reading about our team. You know our biggest win was over Denmark in 1949: 47 - 0 (PWNED)

Actually it's split between Halifax and Quebec City (from what I was able to understand), although that seems a little weird to me being in two different locations.
But now that you mention it, two years from now does sound a little better....but Canada will still take home the hardware.

yeah, but i'm in halifax, so fuck quebec city lol

the reason was likely because they figured halifax wasn't big enough to host it alone (and our rink is crappy)

That's good to know.
If it's any consolation, I was kinda hoping we'd be playing Russia in the final as I don't think Finland will put up real fight.

Yeah. Finland worse than Sweden.
They are will be play in defence ... but if you open Sweden defence -> you will open Finland defence more easily. i hope so :)

It's always fun to watch rus vs can. I've always thought they were the only team worthy of playing against Canada (besides the sweds). Canada had their own war with Russia during the cold war.

This is a pretty old thread lol.

I actually attended the IIHF Worlds in Halifax in 2008. It was fun, although Canada didn't win, as Castor predicted. I believe they lost to Russia in the Gold Medal game.

I also attended the IIHF Worlds last year in Denmark. That was also a lot of fun and my first time visiting Denmark.

I recommend going to the tournament some year, for anyone who likes hockey. It's almost like going to a music festival or something. Great fan atmosphere and lots of partying going on outside the rink.

PS. Latvians are crazy as fuck lol

But in 2010, the young guys will be well seasoned and hopefully in their primes, so we will kick some serious ass in Vancouver.

Called it.

Being Canadian, I often forget the lower divisions exist lol, but I wish the best of luck to all the countries fighting to win. Hockey is for everyone and I encourage all countries to play it.
