corrupt divx and avi question

Ever since upgrading to the lastest divx bundle, the avi files I have, as the avi's are divx supported, no longer show image thumbnails. If I were to open the folder with my avi files, as the icons are in thumbnail preview, half show thumbnails, others dont. It's only when I uninstall the entire divx bundle, do all the thumbnails for my avi/divx files show.

I then re-installed the program bundle and the situation re-occured with some preview thumbnails showing and some not. This wasn't the case with prior versions.

Windows supports thumbnail previews for quite a few video file types & codecs. However, as codecs are updated they can, and often will, break the thumbnail previews. There are some codec packs, such as K-Lite, that will add support for formats/codecs that are not normally supported by Windows. Even then, it's rather hit and miss with most of K-Lite's thumbnail support concentrating on x264 and a few other newer codecs.

I would post in DivX's forum and ask whether this is a known issue and if so, ask if/when it may be fixed. Be sure to include your operating system version, architecture (32 or 64-bit), any service packs, any codec packs you have installed and most importantly, the DivX version number.

Hope this helps.

It does. I didn't know if Windows was in part corrupted or something else. I'm just confused as to why, especially on uninstall of divx, that all the thumbnails will then show.

But I tried to post in the divx forums, but they aren't working right now.
