Paul Snider-Eric is a narcissistic, small time hustler who fancies himself as a
ladies man. His life changes when he meets Dorothy Stratten~Mariel working
behind the counter of a Dairy Queen. Dorothy is a pretty but naïve high school senior.
Paul immediately falls for Dorothy & she sees in Paul a wise worldly person unlike
herself. Paul believes Dorothy is Playboy material. The magazine, which he sees as
only a springboard to bigger & better things. Paul's desires do become a reality. Not only
does Dorothy eventually marry him, she also becomes the August 1979 Playboy Playmate
& ultimately Playboy Playmate of the year, which then leads to a beginning of an acting
career. As Dorothy's star rises, Paul's life is one of a hanger-on of those in Dorothy's new
circle, including Playboy's publisher Hugh Hefner & movie director Aram Nicholas, they
don't much like Paul. Paul is unable to make a living of his own without using Dorothy's
fame, which she increasingly is reluctant to provide for her husband, her knowing the truth...

Based upon the true story of Dorothy Stratten.

Written & directed by Bob Fosse.
