magicman,

First off, read this:

http://www.nudecelebforum.com/t10138-useful-links-computer-security-spyware-spam-etc.html

Now, your browser has been, what we call, hijacked. That means that a specific file on your computer has been modified so that you now have little control over what you do. You will need to (at minimum) download Hijack This and then send it in to some people that know what they're looking for. I believe they're listed in the article I wrote above.

Depending on how badly your machine has been infected, you may need to prepare for a repartition and reinstall as some of these infectious agents are extremely nasty and can only be gotten rid of through that method.

Lastly, quit using IE! Install Firefox and the security extensions. Your chances of picking up one of these nasties will be dramatically reduced.

Sometimes when a website goes down the link will take you to a search engine. Does this happen with all pages or just a few?

Magicman,

Make sure you turn on Teatimer in Spybot. It will help protect the file I mentioned earlier. It won't do any good for IE but should be OK for Firefox.

Also, make sure you install the NoScript extension for Firefox. I wouldn't be without it.

Good luck.

I wrote that article a while ago but I think its still good. Probably needs some updating though. Anyway, make sure you check these two sites out as they used to be (and probably still are) the best resources that I know of.

For help with maleware this seems to be the best place:-

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/

It has many more helpers than SpywareWarrior.

Castlecops is ok, but if you are foolish enough to use warez(which, besides from the stealing side of it, most of the stuffs infected) and they find it in your logs, they will not help you further.
