Banned. I'm gonna move this to the tech forum and someone should be able to walk you through removing whatever this fuck hit you with.

I had all these links under my Documents thing like porn etc, so I guess it was spam. Should I worry about any problems it causing with AIM and other stuff?

I did system restore back to yesterday and the links were gone

if you have a spyware removal program I would run it to check and see if anything was still hanging around.

System Restore was a good idea. Some of the more sophisticated stuff plants itself there too. Are you getting popups? There are lots of symptoms for possible problems...too many to cover in a couple sentences. I'd run a full virus system scan too with updated virus descriptions.

jsa6916,

Several suggestions. First, go to this site:

http://www.safer-networking.org/

and download Spybot, Search and Destroy. Install, update and then run it. If AdAware found 270 +/- problems, then Spybot will probably find more. Its a very good (free) program.

Second. Educate yourself about this problem. We have a brief thread here that is designed for problems just such as this. It should explain all you need to do and has a lot of good references. Here's the thread:

http://forum.exp0sed.com/showthread.php?t=10138

Lastly, if your really pissed about this (and since we were able to get the a**hole's IP, send a quick email (from a Yahoo, Hotmail or some similar account, not your personal account) to the following address and report the SOB:

abuse-mailbox: abuse@peterstar.net
remarks: trouble: ******* SPAM, security: abuse@peterstar.net *******

And you can thank Supafly and Cman for that IP. If you have any further problems, let us know.
