just a part of the code was screwed up. it was looking for a file that no longer exists and for some reason caused it to redirect. no biggie, should be ok now.

the reason i thought it was on your end was simply because i wasn't experiencing the problem myself and because other people were also ok. as i said, i often forget about the white style lol

I've devided to include a link to the rules in my sig, how come it isnt visible in all my past posts? is this how vb works? because in php forums, when you change your sig, all your posts are updated

I just thought I would mention to everyone that if you notice the forum loads kind of slow, try using Firefox. I've tried using in both IE and Firefox and it loads faster in Firefox.

I don't think its the way the forum is set up, its just how IE is programmed and how it chooses to load things.

Everywhere there should be an image, even smiley icons, there is the damn "free porn exposed.com & cman.net" image.

Im in firefox.

PLease get rid of these, the layour of the forum is ruined, and it is intenseley annoying.

Its ironic that defragging is probably the MOST important thing to do and a lot of people don't even know about it.

I run ADAware every single day, and virus once a week and have never had any problems with the forum. I just started defragging once a week as well, using the defragger that is built into XP pro. Is that the program you use or do you have a better program to recommend?

Side note: I quit using spydoctor because it never found anything.

I defrag every week. I use the MVP hosts file (it directs every request to an ad/spam site to the loopback IP....in other words, you don't get there), and I use SpyBot for the tea timer. Nothing can change a start up entry with out SpyBot telling me, and then I can lock the hosts file and home page with SpyBot. I haven't had spyware in a few years.

EDIT: Oh, and when something looks suspicious, I don't click on it no matter how big her tits are. Probably the best prevention of all.

Sounds like and effective solution. A little more info please. Also do you ever find that some things you want are denied?

Your hosts file is a bit like your own DNS server. Before your computer checks with DNS to find the location of "spam.com", it checks the hosts file. If spam.com is listed there with an address of 127.0.0.1, your computer can't get there.

The default hosts file has one entry, the latest MVP (it gets updated, you have to go get it) has like 300-400 entries. The MVP's are Microsoft types who provide a lot of help out on the 'net.

I can get to any site I want to...porn...whatever. The sites that are listed in the MVP hosts file just provide advertising and spyware.

The downside? Often the advertising space of a site will say "page cannot be found" like the top of this screen shot.

The other downside is that some sites show you advertising when you hit the back button. PC World is a good example. So when I hit the back button, I go nowhere as the comuter is trying to go to 127.0.0.1. I have to hit it about 3 times before I finally go back.

The upside is that even when my computer silently tries to go to a site that is known to pump out shit, it can't.

To see more, and download the MVP hosts file, click here. Now they even include a little install .bat, but to install you have to make sure that ZoneAlarm, SpyBot, SpySweeper or something else hasn't locked the hosts file.

After install, lock it again. Otherwise you may soon find that you can't get to Symantec, McAfee, Computer Associates, etc.

Angmar,

I "used to use" (and I stress USED) Norton Utilities defragger (I think it was called Disk Doctor) for a long time and loved it. It would allow you to place your most used and memory intensive apps near the center of the disk so you'd have better seek times. The Windows defragger has, for years, been an old version of the Norton defragger. But I'm pretty sure it now comes bundled with a bunch of other stuff that you really don't want on your machine. So, today, I don't really know of any other apps to use. It would be nice if just that defragger could be put on a machine.

if you check the "Remember" box next to the log in, it will log you in automatically every time. (you need to have cookies enabled)

also, if you your browser asks you if you want it to remember your password, say yes.

my problem with that is that i do a daily clean of we cookies and web temp folders ect., and i dont like IE save pw thingy, i like to just script it in, my reason for this is that id like to automate some pages that ive viseted and like to download pics/vids when i get to them atuomatically, i got the scripts for that and was able to do it when i first came here, but since is a pw site now to see even the pages, i need the script to login first (, anyways i can make my own, i was just wonderin if anyone had done it already, and from your answer i wont assume what i want to do is OK so if anyone can tell me YES is ok or NO dont even try :eek:P, lol...ok ..bye for now

well too bad then lol. if you are that paranoid about cookies etc, you will just have to log in ever day ;)

what i do is i delete my cookies manually. every once in a while, i will delete most of them and just keep the ones i want (for the sites with passwords)

its a good idea to delete you temp files everyday, but cookies don't take up that much hard drive space and there is no threat to your computer security by keeping them, so its not a big deal
