Bolton handed Souness his first loss (in 10 games) loss at the helm of Newcastle..
Realistically I think the Premiership is a 2 horse race between Arsenal and Chelsea..

I beg to differ cos I think Everton may have what it takes to keep the pressure up. X'mas is only 8 games away and we will know by then if Moyes' charges have the mettle to stay up there. In fact we will see how far behind they will be after next week's cruncher against Chelsea.

Everton's games for the rest of the year:

Nov 06 Chelsea v Everton - Match of the week
Nov 13 Birmingham v Everton
Nov 20 Everton v Fulham
Nov 28 Newcastle v Everton
Dec 04 Everton v Bolton - Match of the week
Dec 11 Everton v Liverpool - Oh boy!
Dec 18 Blackburn v Everton
Dec 26 Everton v Man City
Dec 28 Charlton v Everton

Everton are doing surprisingly well considering how shit they are, but credit where credit is due. I reckon they will battle on and finish about 5th/6th. But this won't be a prolonged challenge on the top clubs, im sure they will do exactly the same as Ipswich did a few years ago- finish 4th and then get relegated the season after (or at least in the bottom half).

Good luck to them, but no money and no players- it won't last!

Lyon are the fourth team to qualify. Honorato da Silva Nilmar hits two in the final minute to confirm their place after a nail biting match. The Turks had Servet Cetin sent off which set the game up for a dramatic finish.

Arsenal drawing with West Brom at home quite a surprise. Their form has really been wobbly after the defeat by United.

Champions League Fixtures

ITS CRUNCH TIME!

Tuesday, November 23, 2004

GROUP A
Monaco (Fra) v Liverpool (Eng) Draw
Pool still without strikers but Gerrard returns. A win for either team is a virtual guaranteed spot in the next round.
Olympiakos (Gre) v Deportivo La Coruña (Spa) Home Win
Depor in a must win situation for both their remaining games.

GROUP B
Real Madrid (Spa) v Bayer Leverkusen (Ger) Away Win
Dynamo Kiev (Rus) v Roma (Ita) Home Win

Real, Bayer & Dynamo are all on 7 points. Roma have an outside mathematical chance but have to win their two remaining matches to stay in the competition.

GROUP C
Juventus (Ita) v Ajax Amsterdam (Hol) Home Win
Juve have already qualified and look to maintain their 100% 1-0 win streak.
Bayern Munich (Ger) v Maccabi Tel-Aviv (Isr) Home Win
Bayer can qualify today if they win and Ajax drops points.

GROUP D
Sparta Prague (Cze) v Fenerbahce (Tur) Home Win
Fenerbahce must win and hope Utd don't pick up any points.
Man Utd (Eng) v Lyon (Fra) Home Win
Lyon have already qualified. Utd need a win or for Fenerbahce to drop points.

Wednesday, November 24, 2004

GROUP E
Rosenborg (Nor) v Panathinaikos (Gre) Draw
Either team has a mathematical (must win) chance provided Arsenal don't pick up any more points.
PSV Eindhoven (Hol) v Arsenal (Eng) Home Win
The crisis will come to a head today.

GROUP F
Barcelona (Spa) v Celtic (Sco) Home Win
AC Milan (Ita) v Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukr) Home Win

Barca and AC can secure qualification with a draw in their respective matches.

GROUP G
Werder Bremen (Ger) v Inter Milan (Ita) Draw
Battle of the 100%s. Bremen 100% at home, Inter 100% away.
Anderlecht (Ger) v Valencia (Spa) Home Win
Another 100% Battle - Anderlecht 100% losses at home, Valencia 100% winless away.

Valencia must win to retain any hope of proceeding to the next round. A draw between Inter and Werder will see both teams qualify if the Spanish fail to win.

GROUP H
Chelsea (Eng) v Paris SG (Fra) Home Win
The Blues have already qualified with the tournament's other 100% record.
CSKA Moscow (Rus) v FC Porto (Por) Home Win

The fight for second place will depend heavily on the result between CSKA and Porto. The winner of the match will take the initiative into the final group match with PSG taking on CSKA in a must win battle. Porto have to win their remaining two games to have any chance of advancing.
