getting a helluva lot of annoying pop-ups almost every time I click on a pic to enlarge it now.

thats due to uploaders making the mistake of not making them SFW and making them all NSFW instead...this causes that annoying porn popup as with it being NSFW its full of adult ads.
there is another forum to which i am a member of that make it a rule that uploaders MUST make all images SFW.

NOTE TO ADMIN>>>> maybe this forum can make the same ruling too ??.
in meantime thers a wee trick (win XP, unsure on other OS's) by clicking my computer, local disc C, windows, system32, drivers, etc and then opening the hosts file with notepad then copying & pasting the IP style numbers hit space and paste the offending site addy either by the www or http:// then site name......this blocks the offending site, although the pop up will still be noticed on click, the window vanishes into thin air so your no longer pestered by said popup/site :)

Thanks icarus2 for the Tech Tip.

I don't know about Imagebam, but Imagevenue will delete a pic if it's NSFW and you rate it SFW. Your Tech Tip seems the best solution.

thanks for thanks guys glad to help, was somewhat a bit of a little own PC hack (so to say) i learnt ages back as i was getting sick of popup ads by bucket load on other sites. as said though, it doesnt stop it popping up totally as you see it on click flicker and it vanish within milliseconds but it stops it loading the window up.

Well, whatever reason Imagebam was down for a week ago it certainly wasn't to address this ongoing issue of dead pics. Therefore, I would like to politely ask those of you who prefer to use Imagebam (and Imagevenue as well, since they have the same problem) if you could please check your links after you've ** DEAD LINK REMOVED ** them to make sure they were all successful. I, for one, would be most appreciative of such consideration.

Unfortunately I don't think that would work because any nudity tagged as SFW would probably get deleted from the host's servers as you have basically lied about the content & it would mean a helluva load of dead posts on this forum.

My hatred of imagebam grows with each passing day... they have become the worst, most unstable, ad-infested piece of shit popular image hoster out there right now. They have done nothing about the problem of dead links immediately after uploading them, and for the past couple of days many other links load/download at a frickin' snails pace. I've also come across a few pics that are only partially there. It has taken almost two & a half hours to download less than 100 pics from imagebam this morning, I shit you not! Fucking ridiculous.

I will check out some image pages without a pop up blocker to see how bad it really is. I use firefox with adblock plus and adblock plus popup addon... I don't see any ads.

The fact is almost all of these imagehosts have ads on their pages. We will resort to banning an imagehost only if the ads are excessive and/or if they contain viruses/malicious code.

Well the ads are annoying, but what really bothers me is that they seem more concerned about making money off of us as we look at pics than doing anything about their deteriorating usefulness. They were down for several hours a few weeks ago, and then about 2 hours yesterday, but the only changes apparent to me are... more ads. I'd love to strike up an old fashioned boycott of them, but I think there's too many apathetic people for that to happen.

This image page is taking forever to load...not a good sign.
For some odd reason, they seem to be promoting imagebox instead of fixing existing issues in imagebam.

Anything for a buck, I guess. But not a lot of foresight, as is so often the case.

I just want to reiterate how much I hate imagebam. If it works fine for you, consider yourself lucky... it just took about 45 minutes to grab the pics from 11 new posts in the Vickie Powell thread , and there was 9 or 10 failures as well. It's quite possible that downloading images from imagebam takes up more time than anything else I do here. And that is an absurd scenario.

My fault then for using imagebam then, but, it seems to have been fine for me recently, unfortunately i'm not gonna reupload them with another host as it took me ages to do it the first time.

Is it just my computer, but, everytime I open up a picture on imagebam my anti-virus software keeps saying it has blocked some malicious program/attack? It seems that every gallery I open on their site is infected - talk about imagebam blows.

Imgbox & imagevenue don't give me alerts, has anyone else experienced this?

I haven't experienced that, but I will agree that imagebam really does fucking blow. For all the "upgrades" they were supposedly working on, I find their reliability as shitty as ever. Second only to imagevenue - no other popular hosts are even close to the percentage of dead links as these two.

I don't have a problem, but I did see a thread about it on another site. The poster sent an email to imagerbam, and got the reply that it was due to them working on their servers. I think the poster was in England,

They have been working on their servers for 6 months already.

I would love to test this

The loadtime of this thread (Imagebam blows! ) is 1 second now

take 100 pics (random from threads) and see if they show.
Please be advised: i keep a 10% faults accepted policy.
On reloading the page you should be able to see
- how fast it goes
- if all pics (and thumbs) are visible
- if it is reachable
but i don't know how to get the result of a ping inhere.

First the ping (manually)

pinging 67.202.120.209 OK 134ms
subsystem at p4.imagebam.com (199.115.119.84), several found, end search.

I dont have the formula ready yet but it goes something like this

100 = amount of pics
sP = Size or weight of the single pic , approximately 10K = 10.000 bytes.

with the missing step we would be able to predict the loadtime of that post (110 pics)

i think that i could be 3 seconds

if that varies a lot then there is a reason to discuss it

Trying to find 100 random IB pics...

anybody have more???
Careful , we must keep this on one page.......

editing...........

Sorry I had to edit most of the quote - what has that got to do with viral threats @ imagebam?

Surely the load time of the page has more to do with the speeds of your ISP and web browser and computer than the content of the pictures? Or am I being thick?

I looked at the other site, apparently it is one of the ads that is causing the alarm to go off.

That doesn't explain the slow loading and missing pics.
