I couldn't find anything to useful for what I'm requesting, so I decided to say to hell with it and start up my own thread.

Anyhow, I downloading a bunch of large, megaupload files for feature lenght movies the other day and a problem arose: I was able to play the first video itself, but the second and third installments of the movies would not play. I've encountered this problem before, and now I wanna do something about it.

I couldn't find much info on the website I got it from, but I'm very certain they are all avi. files. I was planning on simply using HJ Split myself, but I wanna be cautious about getting new programs on my computer, and I want the advice of the brilliant minds we have around here.

What should I do so all of them work?

P.S. Damn, I hate to make a change so soon, but I was wondering, I have some quicktime files that won't work on my Quicktime player and keep saying that they're files Quicktime doesn't understand. Anybody know what's causing this?

Movie Maker

Sometimes Bill gets it right - try using the included moviemaker with WinXP it is fairly tolerant but you have to save in WMP

Well, since I guess there are more than a few folks around who wanna know, what I usually do is simply use WinRAR and extract the files. Works like a charm 95% of the time, and the other 5% I use HJSplit.

However I still have a problem with certain files. I downloaded a split file from the Cine Argentino thread (I think it's called 'Las Collegias') or something. Anyway I was able to combine and even the little snapshot showed on the video file showed a scene from the actual clip. However when I play it there's sound but no visuals. This has happened to me twice (I had an Isabel Sarli file I could play on an old computer but now it won't show). I tried downloading Divx but it didn't do any good.

Any suggestions?

Allright, I'll make this a bit less cryptic.

I can now make the first file I spoke of work (all it needed was to be played in windows media player).

My question now is, how do you get a file to display images? I hear sound okay, but that's about it. Is there a way to look up what the requirements are?
