Very sad to hear of the passing of Levon Helm, drummer and singer with The Band. Like it says in their song "The Unfaithful Servant" - "The memories will linger on, but the good old days, they're all gone". RIP Levon.

Neil Armstrong - August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012.

US astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man on the Moon, has died aged 82.

A statement from his family says he died due to complications from heart surgery he had earlier this month.

He set foot on the Moon on 20 July 1969, famously describing the event as "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".

US President Barack Obama said Amstrong was "among the greatest of American heroes - not just of his time, but of all time".

Last November he received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest US civilian award.

He was the commander of the Apollo 11 spacecraft. More than 500 million TV viewers around the world watched its touchdown on the lunar surface.

He was definitely great in "The Green Mile", but he had some memorable comedic roles as well. If you haven't seen "The Slammin' Salmon", I suggest you seek it out next time you're in the mood to laugh your ass off.

Singer Andy Williams has died at his home in Branson, Missouri, after a year-long battle with bladder cancer, aged 84.

He was best known for his recording of Moon River, the Oscar-winning song featured in the film Breakfast at Tiffany's.

In 1962 he started The Andy Williams Show, which went on to win three Emmys. Since the 1990s he ran the Andy Williams Moon River Theater in his home town.

The singer was one of the most enduring stars of the 1960s and '70s whose easy style and mellow voice led President Ronald Reagan to call him "a national treasure".

A new generation discovered Williams' music when Music to Watch Girls Go By made the Top 10 in 1999 after being used in an advert.

Johnny Lewis; dead at 28

"Actor Johnny Lewis was found dead on Wednesday the 26th...

in a Los Angeles neighborhood where he was suspected of killing an 81-year-old woman from whom he may have been renting a room, police said on Thursday.

Police responded to a call on Wednesday morning about a screaming woman in the affluent Los Feliz section and found Catherine Davis dead in her home, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Officer Cleon Joseph said. Joseph said that Lewis, 28, who had been released from jail five days earlier, was also dead in the home's driveway after either falling or jumping from the roof."

Kurt Sutter, creator of "Sons of Anarchy", said in a statement that Lewis' death was a "tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. I wish I could say that I was shocked by the events last night, but I was not," Sutter said. "I am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path."

I only knew him as "Half-Sack" from Sons of Anarchy (the 4th best American drama after Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire) I would say Rest in Peace if it was just a suicide, but seeing as how he killed some poor 81yrold woman and THEN killed himself....fuck him. Way to leave a legacy mate.

R.I.P. to Catherine Davis' family.

EDIT: cops are now saying he was either on meth or pcp. I'd bet on pcp.

Alex Karras, the former American footballer-turned-actor, has died at his home in Los Angeles aged 77.

He remains best known for his role as the illiterate outlaw Mongo in Mel Brooks' comedy Blazing Saddles, in which he punched a horse unconscious.

He also starred in the 80s sitcom Webster, opposite his wife Susan Clark. He made his screen debut towards the end of his sporting career, in 1968, playing himself in the American football drama Paper Lion, alongside Alan Alda. It spawned a number of television appearances, including a memorable role in The Odd Couple series. Film credits included a sheriff in Porkys and a gay bodyguard in Victor/Victoria.

He had been suffering from kidney failure, dementia, heart disease and cancer in recent years, his family said.
