perl
(programming language)
tried to run my old sourcefiles (.pl and .cgi)
The old program "perl.exe" was not working anymore (were can i find the Windhoos log if creating errors in dos?) and i decided to go to one of the sites mentioned.
activestate or perl com
A program is a general word for a collection of modules
in 1997 i used it on my local machine, the perl_install program installed an interpreter that did the job.
somehow managed to loose the CD.
I don't want a grafical compiler or assembler because i use Notepad for that.
I downloaded 6 different files (rar types) and they all contained the entire sourcefile collection of perl.
Normally this is more than a treasure for someone who wants it but to me it is (time-waste).
What did i want : if i type " perl -v " at the dos prompt it should return a number not a file not found error.
So i created a small script , ** DEAD LINK REMOVED ** it to several servers and they all worked, but if i try to run them locally it is not working.
I googled for it and found tons of material but you ALWAYS need a seperate compiler (readayMoney) for it.
So now the question :
Does anybody know how or where i can find a perl auto-installer for local use.
I DO NOT WANT THE COMPILER JUST THE INTERPRETER (and i don't want to make my PC a server)
Is it something i have to switch on somewere or a windhoos add on
