Hey guys
I recently reformated my hard drive, installed everything again, but now I keep having this trojan detected by my AntiVir. It's always detected in the svchost.exe file, and it says it's a part of the BDS/SkSocket.1.0.8 backdoor server programs. I have ad-aware, spy-bot, Counter Spy and AntiVir. I always scan my computer with Counter Spy, it detects the trojan and deletes it, the problem is that when I turn it back on, this damn thing keeps appearing again, and obviously I don't want to run a full scan on my computer everytime I turn it on.
Any thoughts on how I can solve this?
Thanks a lot

Peter,

I've done a lot of that stuff. This is typical of a well written piece of malware. Even if you can find the file and kill it, it stays alive in RAM and rebuilds itself before you shut down.

Even these can be defeated....with a lot of time.

I would encourage you to go somewhere that specializes in helping people get rid of this stuff. My favorite forum is Short-Media for this stuff. Go here. http://www.short-media.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=57

Just like this forum, read the sticky's (they won't even talk to you till you've downloaded HiJackThis) before you blurt out your problem. You give them enough info and there are guys who love to fight this stuff long distance. Don't know why, but they do.

peter_jam,

Been out of town so I'm getting in on this a little late. Were you able to fix the problem? Also, we have a thread here that has a lot of info on the subject. Check here:

http://forum.exp0sed.com/showthread.php?t=10138

And make sure you check with these two sites. They probably have some info on your problem:

http://castlecops.com/
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/

Lastly. The next time you reformat, make SURE that your machine is disconnected from the internet until the firewall is activated. Some of these things have been noted to slip onto the machine while only the OS is installed.
Good luck!

Hey
Sorry for taking so long to answer, but I had some health problems that kept me away from the computer.
Anyway, the first thing I did was to update Counterspy with the latest definitions, this helped a little bit, since now it only detected the trojan file when I started up my computer, I deleted it, and that was it.
Now, 2 days ago I updated counterspy and my antivirus, and I guess that took care of it, since I've had no warning messages since.
I guess it was just a matter of time before anti-spyware software caught up with my problem.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your help and for answering on such short notice.
