This is my first official post. I know i suck.

But i have around 500 DVD's now. I usually buy around 1 to 3 a week. I am addicted to them. It all started with a mean VHS collection though and i gave most of them away.

This is more of a general question to everyone, but I'm using your post as an example.

I myself don't buy many DVD's simply because I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. Its fine if you do, we each have our budgetary choices.

Anyway, my question is, where the fuck does everyone get the money to buy all these? Am I missing something?

500 x $20-30 = a buttload of money

I've only bought 60 odd DVDs in the last two years and I rotate my collection with a circle of four mates who inturn rotate theirs so we spend four times less than we would have to. Or is that three time less? :? Whatever ... I save money by sharing.

In my case i always had golf in my budget. So i had pretty much always set aside money for golf. usually 100 to 200 a month on it. I lost interest in it and turned my main hobby into home theater. You don't even want to know what my home theater consists of. My audio actually beats out my local theaters pretty bad.

But to basically answer the question about buying dvd's like mad, that is now just my hobby. I still go out but i have almost quit drinking and that freed up a ton of cash too. so reallocation of money from other places have lead to a lot more money i can put elsewhere. At the moment i am actually shopping for a small plasma for my bedroom. Not sure of the size yet.

How to Make Easy Money.

Step One:
Search eBay for DVDs that go for more than $20/piece reliably.

Step Two:

Step Three:
Purchase said DVDs, then relist on eBay as unopened product.

Step Four:
Curse Paypal for taking your 13 cents, then deposit the profit straight into your bank account.

B.O.T.

My collection:
1) Gia
2) Complete Family Guy Series

I have over 400 dvds of that 60 are copies ( self explanatory why I am not listing but may take a picture of)

which will be 403 tomorrow after I buy the star wars trilogy to complete the set

I used to always buy my movies new but for the last coule years I have been buying them from pawn shops or movie stores used............you are allowed to inspect the disc and if there's any problems with them you can exchange. this saves me at least $10 a dvd and the only downfall is that I get the movie 1-2 weeks later unless I really want it I get it on the day it comes out.

cman, I got my "legal" collection by way of quitting drinking for the better part of a year and deciding to treat myself to a couple a week as payback for not boozing it up. Pretty quickly my collection grew to 70+. I now have around 130. Yeah, it is a lot to invest, but living in the south for a couple of years and buying previously viewed helps.

I will take the lazy way out and photograph them (when I get home) like others have done.
