Bobby Caldwell-What you won't do for love

An R&B classic from 1978, going top ten in both the top 40 and the R&B charts. I would've bet a million bucks the dude was black. In order to ensure significant airplay on the African American-dominated R&B radio format of the time, Caldwell's management took certain steps?such as portraying the artist only in silhouette on the cover and in advertisements?to hide the fact that he was white. Imagine their surprise once that curtain rose.

Classic from the late star (then only 17 years old) & all star producer, Timbaland, who on this track created a whole new stlye that would be picked up by many producers. In 1996, it sat at the top of the R&B charts for 6 weeks. Missy Elliott & Timbaland produced the "One in a Million" album, which went double platinum at the time. Presently, the album stands certified as diamond (over ten million copies).

"Cars" is a 1979 song by Gary Numan, released as a single and on the album The Pleasure Principle. It reached the top of the charts in several countries and is today considered a classic rock staple. However, its popularity was so enormous that it overshadowed much of the rest of Numan's career in the 1980s, causing him to be thought of in later years as a one-hit wonder.

The year is 1983 & U2 drops one of my fav albums of all time. This song & New Year's day get serious rotation in my home. It's off their third album, War, and it went up to #7 on the pop charts that year. That's very good for an anti-war song.

This piece of classic early metal went up to #65 on the charts in 1982. That number is a bit deceiving because this is an excellent song. It's off their 1982 album, Blackout.

This song went to #5 on the charts in 1984, "Sister Christian," written and sung by Kelly Keagy, Night Ranger frontman, for his own sister. It became a cautionary anthem for teenage girls across a conservative America, warning them not to "give it up before their time is due." It's off the Midnight Madness album.

In my opinion, the best rock band of the 90's with the only guitar hero of the 90's. Excellent music, very conscious lyrics, completely original style. Miss the hell out of 'em. This is off their debut album, that went 3 times platinum. The lyrics posit the possibility that some members of law enforcement in the United States are also members of Ku Klux Klan: "Some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses."The last line has become rather notorious: "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!" shouted repeatedly, most likely referring to the oppressive KKK groups the song is aimed at, but also a message of rebellion to the American government as a whole.

Their 1st big hit off their debut album, Aerosmith, back in 1973, reaching the spot of 59 on the pop charts. It was later released in 1976, going into the top ten and little did they know that it would be a song for the ages. For the hip hop nation, this song was heavily sampled in Eminem's "Sing for the Moment".

"Addictive," was a Top 10 hit in the United States, and featured several verses from hip hop legend, Rakim. It's off her 2002 album, Truthfully Speaking. The song, produced by DJ Quik, utilized an uncleared Hindi Lata Mangeshkar sample; the copyright holders sued Aftermath and parent company Interscope Records for $5 million dollars, and issued an injunction against further sales or performances of the record.

Every time I think of Whitney, it makes me incredibly sad. All that voice, all that beauty, all that talent slowly wasting away. She's a once in a lifetime type of artist, I hope she recovers soon. As good as Kelly & Faith are, they ain't never gonna be where Whitney has been. Initially, the raunchy image had a negative effect on Aguilera in the U.S. While the video for "Dirrty" became a huge hit on MTV, it disappointed on the U.S. singles chart. However, the single was a huge hit worldwide, reaching number one in several countries. The album, Stripped, reached the top five on the UK, U.S. and Canadian album charts.
