So has anyone had any bugs with this new Windows yet. As not many things that come from Microsoft don't have any problems. I'm thinking of sticking with XP for a while.

I'm on Vista now. I havn't had a single problem. Microsoft isn't the problem its the dumb users that use the software and don't know what they are doing.

That's hilarious, I probably know more about vista then 99% of the people on this forum.

Also, I do not know why you told me to relax... did I sound angry? I was just giving away some sound advice to all the peeps who do not know better.

The whole point of a Microsoft making a new operating system is to make money. This means they will do many things to ensure that people have to upgrade. More then likely if your computer has muscle its because you play games. Within the next year pc games will only be compatible with Vista. I said relax because you said Vista sucks. That is a very untrue statement so you are not giving sound advice. Your the person who makes my life miserable bacause I have to explain to customers that most of the shit they heard about Vista is untrue. I've ran it for 8 months. I dual booted XP on the same machine. It runs about the same speed for me. I'm sorry if you can't use a celeron D to run Vista. Computers get more powerful as does software. Times change. Everyone had a shit fit when Windows 95 came out too, but once all of the hardware and software developers backed 95 then everyone upgraded and realized how great it was.

What are you saying? Microsoft is evil and will break your computer if you don?t get vista?

Right now the only game I know that only works only for vista is halo 2, a Microsoft game (very dirty of Microsoft). But for arguments sake, lets say all games suddenly abandon xp in one year. Why would you be stupid enough to get vista now before sp1 or sp2?

That is a very untrue statement so you are not giving sound advice. Your the person who makes my life miserable bacause I have to explain to customers that most of the shit they heard about Vista is untrue.
The index search is about the only thing I truly like about vista. IE7 is better then IE6, but you can get that on XP. Besides firefox is better.

I've ran it for 8 months. I dual booted XP on the same machine. It runs about the same speed for me.
It has been proven that vista runs slower overall. If you take two computer that are the exact same specs, one with vista, one with xp, the xp will out perform vista over 90% of the time (number I am guessing google if you don?t benchmarks).

The new improvements in tcp/ip even are known to be slower then xp. On top of that, there are many compatibilities issues with routers and modems (and many internal devices such as tv tuners and network adapters).

Everyone had a shit fit when Windows 95 came out too, but once all of the hardware and software developers backed 95 then everyone upgraded and realized how great it was.

I used that arguments many times before also (got 2 feed the customer bullshit about vista being good)...

I do not care for aero. I do not like the interface (beta tested Word 2007), sidebar does not interest a programmer, and so much other junk that is not needed (do you know how many complaints I get about stupid things like UAC?). I definitely think superfetch is smart, but xp still outperforms vista. Readyboost is another smart technology (that most people do not realize its not a substitute for little bit of memory).
What it all comes down to: Give me XP with DX10, superfetch, readyboost and index searching and I (personally) would not have a single reason to go to vista.

You just made my point for me. If XP had all of those things then there would be no reason to spend money on a new operating system. Toda here comes Vista. Microsoft is far from stupid when it comes to business. They come out with new OS's to fix problems, but more importantly to make money. I dont have a problem with you saying that you don't want to upgrade now, but the fact is you said Vista sucks. It doesn't. and for the record I don't feed customers bullshit. Every computer I sell has a dual core processor and 1GB of RAM in it so Vista runs fine. The reason to get Vista now is because you can not buy a new computer with XP on it. Having a computer with Vista on it is not a problem for most people. Yes there are problems, there is suppose to be problems. It's a new OS. Like you stated most of the problems are with third party hardware drivers. This is not Microsofts job. Drivers are up to the companies, that make the hardware, to develop. If people are running XP now there is no reason to run out and upgrade, but there is also no reason to have worries about buying a new computer with Vista on it. Vista is very stable, has many great features (many you decided to omit), and works fine.

How did I make your point? I said vista sucks, not Microsoft... MS wants to make money using vista. I am saying you do not need vista, especially not beforeSP1. Vista right now sucks compared to XP. Anyone who is smart would wait till SP1 is out.

What *does piss me off* is MS will purposely omit useful features in SP4 (for xp) so vista looks better.

MS needs to stop trying to "mac-ify" its products, and just make a stable, well supported os.

Amen. Windows 2000 was very stable because thats what it was made for. It certainly wasn't "pretty", but thats why it works well.

I tried Vista on a friend's computer and didn't really like it, but probably just because it was different. I'm sure I will upgrade eventually and get used to it.

It's inevitable.

In 5 years time you'll all be moaning again about the new OS saying "No, Im sticking with Vista It's more reliable"

I've had it over a month and a half and am finally getting used to it. There are still a few things that bug me, like Office 07 with the windows logo being the file button which i didn't know until about a week ago and how some of my older vids I got cause some random error that doesn't do anything but piss me off. Other than that, I kinda like it. I learned on macs as a young'un so this is kinda a return for me. Kinda.

Actually, as I was typing that, I thought that it might have been the fact I used an older version of K-Lite, the one I used a few years ago when i changed computers, so I uninstalled that and installed the newest version and it all works fine. And I switched to Firefox, so now things are working really well. I'm kinda liking it now.
