Wasn't quite sure where to put this as she's not really a celeb or model but she sure has created a bit of controversy recently. For those who don't know, up until about two years ago she was a high school reading teacher in Florida. Then she "got involved" with a 14 year old kid, was ratted out by the kids cousin, arrested, plead guilty in one county and had the charges dropped in another county (just yesterday). Anyway, the news media is ticked (hypocritically, I believe) because the charges were dropped in the one county and people are all upset about our "double standard" for "sex offenders".

Jeez, I just wish, when I was 14, that I would've had a "teacher" like her. And I bet that 99.9% of the people in this forum feel about the same way.

Thats exactly what I mean. On the one hand, she probably should go to jail, but, on the other, what 14 y.o. wouldn't bang on that? Shoot, I'd do her at 14 or 94. I see these people saying that the kid is suffering all kinds of "trauma" from the experience. BS! If anything, he's probably kicking himself in the ass saying, "How stupid am I".

What do you mean by that? I realize her actions weren't exactly the smartest in the world, but I wouldn't have her shot. Maybe have her work in the porn business for a while. That would certainly teach her!

This happened recently in Aus and you think yeah the kid will have no trauma from it because the teacher was pretty hot. But this is the way I had to make myself think about it. The female teacher who did this got 2 years good behaviour or something. Now think about that sentence and then think if the sexes had been reversed (ie male teacher female student). The teacher would have gotten a substantial stint of jail time and the a premanent record of him being a pedophile whereby he can never work with children again and will be shunned by society forever.

I don't condone either case.

I guess this really gets to the nub of the question. The law says that everyone should be treated the same, which is as it should be. But, obviously, in some situations (such as this) males and females ARE very different. This situation is pretty much a dream of 99.999% of adolescent males but females, probably, far less. So, if that is correct, is the law correct?

And I think LaFave wound up losing her job, being classified as a sex offender and getting three years probation. Pretty much the same as your case.

The latest news that I've heard about this case she is that suffers from Bipolar disorder, I was watching Inside Edition and they had a story about her and she apologized to the kid and to the family and said that she suffers from Bipolar.

I would just like to say that I agree with everybody here she should be punished for what she did, but I don't think that this kid is horribly traumatized by this if anything he just wants all this to be over.
