Dorian Gray was the somewhat bizarre pseudonym of Italian actress Maria Luisa Mangini, who became a big star in the 1950s. Born in Bolzano in 1936, she made her theatre debut, aged just 14 (if her date of birth is to believed), in the revue Votate per Venere in 1950. She appeared in films at around the same time. But she really started concentrating on her cinema career in the mid 50s. Starring in 32 movies ( Filmography), Dorian ended abruptly her career in 1965, after getting pregnant. She moved to Torcegno, Trentino, where she built a villa, and remained there in self - imposed seclusion, until committing suicide by gunshot on Wednesday, January 16, 2011, aged 75.
