Did a search...
The closest I got to books was, you guessed it: boobs!

If you're reading and replying on this forum I'm assuming you guys are literate. I'm betting you must have read a couple by now, right?

I'm also willing to bet that you came across one or two that you even (gasp) enjoyed!

What books do you guys love and (more importantly) what books do you recommend? Hardy Boys or Nancy Screw? Moorcock or Pratchett? Dr Seuss or Dr Phil?!

My fave book: On the Road by Jack Kerouak (It's an old school tale about the ultimate road trip... I've read it like 10 times)
Best book I've read this year: The 25th Hour by David Benioff (Awesome! If you've seen the movie, read the book anyway... it's waaaaaaaaaay better)

I definately wanna read this at some point...
How to Make Love like a Porn Star by Jenna Jameson
mllaps.jpg

Not gonna win the Pullitzer anytime soon, but who cares?!
I wanna make love like a porn star!

If reading is not really your thing, give it another chance.
Besides, man cannot live on Reality TV and Cable Internet alone... (or can he?!!!)

The one I like the most is Black Sunday by Thomas Harris. I am reading it for the fourth time now. Thomas Harris also wrote Red Dragon, The Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal.
I also like Jurassic Park and Congo by Michael Crichton.
I also own a copy of Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler, which I will probably read next.

I was just thinking of starting a thread about favorite books earlier today.

Hey Young,
Don't worry... the furthest I got with LOTR was halfway through the first book!
It must have been a real page-turner back in the day, but it hasn't aged well at all. It's just too slooooooooooow!

They jazzed up the story quite alot for the movie.
I hear Peter Jackson might do a Hobbit TV miniseries.

If fantasy is your thang, try anything by Gemmel, Eddings or Moorcock...
btw you guys can recommend comic books here too...
I just finished reading The Ultimates... very cool!
(who sez comics are just for kids?)

Last I heard, Peter Jackson is going to do a full hollywood production of The Hobbit, but rights are being argued between two production companies. He is very anxious to get started so he can have some of the same actors reprise their roles.

Well recently I've started reading stuff by Matthew Reilly, he's only done like six books but some of the best focus on an American Marine Called Shane 'Scarecrow Scofield' check them out their all quality.
other that it's gotta be Crichton with Jurrasic Park/TheLost world and Timeline.
Also Mick Foley wrestler turned author he's stuff is the thing of legends you might cry you will definatly laugh!!

Valley of the Dolls
The Tao of Pooh

And, anyone else think that "Make Love Like a Porn Star" is a bit of an oxymoron?

For me the best book(s) ever are the Wheel Of Time books by Robert Jordan. There are currently 10 books released from the main series of 12, a lot of reading but if you like Fantasy, swords, magic etc. then give this a go. Not as boring or hard going as LOTR is to read i promise.

Other books of note i have read recently are:

Jarhead - Anthony Swafford (An excellent account of a US Marine scout-sniper during GW1, a must for anyone who you don't want to join the services)

Around Ireland With A Fridge - Tony (Not The Skater) Hawks (An Englishman hitchhikes around the Irish coast with a fridge, for a bet. The funniest book anyone who has visited the Emerald Isles will ever read)

George Orwell - Animal farm (A true and ageless classic)

It has been a great shame that most of Kings books have been ruined but i think films such as Stand By Me, The Shawshank Redemption, Misery, Carrie and The Green Mile should be recognised as good films. Not sure where the Running man stands in this? But as we all know, in any democratic society, majority rules. So they are in the Main(e) crap.

I kinda liked the film adaptation of King's Hearts in Atlantis too.
If you've read the book, you'll know it's actually comprised of three (seemingly?) unrelated stories.
They chose (wisely) to just go with the first (and imho best) story which is about a boy who befriends a psychic on the run.

First rule about adaptations though: the book is ALWAYS better!

Oh wait... except for LOTR that is! :D

American Psycho- Bret Easton Ellis
(Yes there's a movie but the book is even more explicit and violent!)

Choke - Chuck Palahniuk (The Author of Fight Club)

and my favorite of all time....

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas- Hunter S. Thompson
