HP printer help

hey fellas
im using a HP Deskjet 610C. just bought a color ink cartridge but havent used it in a few weeks n now i cant print in color. my guess is the cartridge has dried coz i checked it out n no ink is coming out of it. the only thing it prints is anything blue, which comes out grey.

any suggestions? much thanx

You may also have to replace the print heads. Check the HP site. Their feedback forum is pretty good.

I think thats the million dollar question with any inkjet printer (and maybe a real scam). I've had Lexmarks and Canons for a while now and they both do the same thing. The real problem, especially with the Lexmarks, is that the replacement cartridges are now about $40 each.

A while back I put a relatively new Lexmark cartridge on a plate with several layers (about 6) of paper towel on top and then put the cartridge on top of that and then kept the paper towels pretty damp for a few days. It kind of worked but didn't really revive the cartridge to where it should have been. Give that a try, hopefully you'll have better results.

Could you try make moistening the tip or something? I don't know haha. Other than that, probably have to buy new ink

Thats what I tried with my little experiment, just keeping it moist enough to hopefully loosen up the blockage. I'd take it off the plate, dry it and stick it back in the carriage and then try printing. But it didn't really work very well. I seem to remember reading back then somewhere (or at least thinking) that it wouldn't be a good idea to immerse the cartridge as that could really ruin it. But who knows, maybe its worth a shot as my experiment wasn't very successful (at least with the Lexmark cartridge).

Check to see if your printer has a "Clean" function. It should scrape off and/or force out enough of the gunk to clean the heads. If that doesn't work you're gonna have to get new cartridges.
