Too Many RapidGator and Dead Link Removed.to Links

No secret that downloading without a premium account from RapidGator and Dead Link Removed.to/Ul.to is difficult. Both hosts have long waiting periods between downloads; I rarely can download more than one or two files per 24 hours.

The abundance of RapidGator and Dead Link Removed.to links concerns us because the forum is becoming unfriendly for downloaders without premium accounts. We are considering requiring mirror links whenever a post contains an Dead Link Removed.to or RapidGator link. Mirrors would have to be a host other than RapidGator or Dead Link Removed.to.

Any thoughts?

I totally disagree...I allready make a bigger set or video in parts under 200MB for free users to download um...if you are a poster like me...whoom upload verry much...it's allready timeconsuming if I have to upload to a mirror host also than it even takes more time...and here's a lil note of critique myside...these day's you can buy prepaid creditcards...so you don't need to use youre own credit card to buy a premium account to a host witch ussually cost around 9.00$ a whole month in my eyes that's almost for free and you can almost download as much as you want if you want to download lots of porn...and in my opinion if you don't want to pay for porn...than you have bad luck and have to wait a while before you can download again....

I cannot stand rapidgator or ul... I generally don't even bother if I see the video/whatever has a link to those sites.

First off the DL speeds without premium are ridiculous, and secondly if the video/whatever is 2+ parts, well be prepared to spend half the day waiting for the timers to let you download the other half.

I am tending to agree with the original post. While I'm sure it is no secret I'm not a fan of RG, the concern has much merit to it. Far too often RG will randomly decide "your captcha has expired" (when it didn't, and I m certain they do it on purpose) and now you are locked out of downloading any file uploded RG - not just the one you just tried. If the majority of uploads are all hosted by one or two hosts that effectively means you can't access most of the content on the boards for hours and limiting forum user to maybe one or two downloads a day. Which kind of defeats the sharing principle of the board IMHO.

it's not always so clear cut. I have had paid memberships to many file hosts in the past. Rapidshare - went nuts and changed their rules. Filesonic - literally overnight without warning or refunds changed to only allowing the uploader to download. the list goes on. I've been burned too many times to count. Fool me once.......

I thanked Larryo, which was an implicit agreement. I tend to think that if the file is Dead Link Removed to a site that it's not practical to download from -- and the two sites in the post fall into that category -- then as far as I'm concerned, it may as well have simply not been Dead Link Removed in the first place. OTOH, I am grateful to those who *do* a lot of uploading, and I'm not sure it my place to tell someone who uploads to do more work to make my life easier.

I would prefer someone use a different host -- and maybe it would be a nice rule to suggest that some hosts are avoided -- I'm not sure *requiring* it is cool.

Rapidgator is downright horrible. I don't even mind having to wait a few hours in between downloads. I just feel like I'm jumping through hoops to download anything because of all the spam that comes up.

I have to agree with you in that downloading free, without the benefit of Premium accounts is slow, tedious, and destine to make a girl scout cuss, but I've found that to be generally true for ALL of the hosts. What I've done, and while I positively HATE having to pay, I got Zevera so I have access to multiple hosts for one payment, and it's normally about the same (or cheaper) than a single host charges.

This is NOT a spamm or solicitation for that multi host but it helps keep my BP down so I thought I'd share it.

Yes, this is quite annoying. I use Dead Link Removed.net for sharing content because I like their FTP uploading feature, and my uploads seem to last a good while.

I can understand the viewpoint that Dead Link Removed.net sucks. I personally don't have access to a premium account and thus have to wait unproductive amounts of time in between downloads. It's ridiculous.

We are considering requiring mirror links whenever a post contains an Dead Link Removed.to or RapidGator link.

I'm curious, what other hosts are you considering? What hosts are superior for the forum? I am both a downloader and an uploader, but I do not use premium accounts to download.

PlanetSuzy requires DepositFiles, Hotfile, LuckyShare, MediaFire.

I have no experience with LuckyShare, but I know personally that MediaFire is garbage. They kill uploads fairly quickly and frequently, and I don't think they have an FTP upload function.

As far as I know, we are not moving toward an allowed hosts list at this time.
We want to give uploaders the flexibility to choose their preferred filehost.
At the same time, we also want to ensure that they do not spam this forum with links that are almost impossible to download without a premium account.
@gokkunfanatic - I do know that depositfiles has an FTP upload feature. I would highly recommend it.

Just some final thoughts.
It is very easy to make mirrors without wasting bandwidth. -KA- suggested mirrorcreator, which is great. There's also remote upload for the skeptics who do not want to use mirrorcreator. I've noticed that many of our own posters post mirrors at other forums but they intentionally omit those mirrors from their posts here for monetary reasons. I don't blame them for doing that. Just stating the facts. I see no reason why posting one mirror should be a problem.

Not everyone is happy with all hosts, but those seem to be most friendly for free downloads and links do not die so quickly like with Mediafile and Hotfile.

Requiring mirrors for Dead Link Removed.to and Rapidgator will not be good for some posters, but we get more than enough posts. Most of them dump the same Upload.to and RG links at many forums anyway. We would like NCF to attract more members and visitors. Offering better download links is the best way to attract visitors.

Well you know that many members are members of more than one forum and lot's of the same sets are posted by many posters on many diffrent hosters so if you realy want to download something just look around a bit and you will find it posted on a host you like..but most lurkers are leazy SOB's I think that they are the ones that are complaining,said this before...I spend a lot of time behind the machine...and I don't want to spend even more time to make mirror posts..I use 2 diffr hosters for my postings and I think that's enough...

From a uploader's perspective..

I got a fairly slow upload speed, so naturally my problem with the free hosts, and the mirror services for that matter.. is that none of them can touch Dead Link Removed.to on their 120 days after last download policy before deletion, which is why 98% of my links are still up after 2 years, with reuploads being counted on on hand and only due to dmca.

100s of new hosts spawn up every month, just to close down again a few weeks/months later.

Since both Rapidgator, but especially Dead Link Removed have shown great reliability (being in business unchanged since 2005), are undoubtedly the biggest hosts out there today, and both have survived massive takedown attempts, IMO these 2 hosts should be official keyhosts.

Personally i got a Dead Link Removed account which is the only host i want to support moneywise, and a debrid account for everything else.

Edit: Advertising? It was intended to show an informative solution, as taking point from the amount of leecher host bash threads on various forums.

Obviously many people don't know about these services, which could save them alot of hassles, money and time + would negate the needs for forums to limit, or enforce a set of hosts, which in the long run gives better service for the downloaders and less work for the mods.
