minnie, please consider taking your own advice... i DO think for myself, and if you read what i post here, and if you were at all familiar with rush, you would see some rather stark differences... i learned to think for myself many years ago... i can tell you from experience that it is rather refreshing... you should try it sometime...

its a funny thing, really... you consider everything on the table, and eventually come to a conclusion... if anyone else shares that conclusion, the ignorant in society make an assumption that the thinking was done by someone else... care to tell us why that is?? because i (or you) agree with something someone says does not mean that i (or you) came to that conclusion BECAUSE of that other person...

consider for a moment that rush has a weekly audience of roughly 20-25 million... i am willing to bet that there are millions of folks in the US that agree with him on a majority of issues that have NEVER even heard his show, and possibly never heard of him at all... al franken has an audience of dozens, and i know that not all of them are on this forum... does everyone that agrees with franken do so because they are incapable of forming an independant thought?? think about it...

I used to listen to lumbaugh many years ago and found some of what he had to say interesting. The problem was that he would occasionally speak of something that I had direct info on and his conclusions were rediculous and 180 deg. opposite of what actually was going on. Hence, his info and conclusions were deceptive. Seen enough of that, don't need any more.

Does it eat you up knowing that long after your kids kids have passed away, that every president will have believed in god thus hampering what they could have been? Or do you hope that a fake will come along and just pretend he believes in god for possible election? Would that be fine? Just curious

I don't remember precisely what issues that I found lumbaughs info to be inaccurate as I quit listening to him at least 8 to 10 years ago. At that time I was partially studying environmental issues so I would have a tendency to believe my P.H.D. professors (that had extensively studied a particular subject for many years) over a blowhard that doesn't even have a college degree.

I would think that most educated individuals would do the same.

Belief in God has no basis for reasoned judgment on matters not of faith or, perhaps, morality. An example of this is the sciences, where faith plays no role, but facts are what decide matters.

God gave us all brains and He expected that we would use them. Intelligent Design is a façade of creationism, the fundamentalist idea of which has been disproven beyond a reasonable doubt. (The Earth is not barely over 6000 years old.)

berg, naturally kids educated in government schools will end up dumber than most of the world... look at who has had control of the schools for decades... we now care more about self esteem and feelings than the right answer to a question... nope, no surprise there, but its folks that think the way you do that have brought this terrible fate down upon the children of this nation....

if the education of kids in this country is to ever get better, two things need to be brought back, and the sooner, the better... risk and shame are the two things i am talking about... some kids manage to graduate high school without ever taking any sort of risk, or ever being injured physically or emotionally... that kid is a huge liability to anyone near him or her... one should not experience the first inkling of pain from a scrape, or the first insult, at age 20something... that is best gotten out of the way in early childhood, where lessons can be learned and remembered... some things hurt, and some people can be mean sometimes... shame is the other key... it is gone, in the interest of self esteem... with shame, there is an incentive to work harder and do well to avoid the NEED for shame... with no shame, every answer, right or wrong, is "good enough," which leads to the kids of upper iguana scoring better on tests than American kids...

Apparently, her status as a covert op. is not really much of a matter of debate any longer (except for Bush/Cheney apologists). The law, as I understand it, covers almost everyone that works for the CIA. She had been working as a covert op. for some period of time, but, at the time of Novak's article, she was working a desk job (fairly important one at that). If her cover had not been blown, there was a possibility that she could have gone covert at some time in the future.

I believe that is the problem area.

her cover wasnt blown, she was not covert, and no laws were broken... conveniently absent from this discussion is one reporter named bob woodward, who apparently was, against the rules of his newspaper, collecting information for a book he was writing... word is, he knows a few things that might just kill the case against libby... tough to convict people when there was no crime... oh, and for the record, as i am sure all of you know, an indictment is not a conviction... i predict that the case against libby will be dismissed...

Chances are most of these guys are psycho terrorists you wouldn't want wandering around your neighbourhood. But EVERYBODY has to be accountable for their treatment of prisoners. The US has given themselves the power to hold people alomst indefinitely without trial, or even charging them. If other countries did this, it'd be screamed about. What if Canada set up the same deal, and arrested (indefinitely) every American that entered Canada? "We think they're terrorists, eh?"
And yes I get the difference in my idea to the actuallity. But if you refuse to report to the UN, then there is NO-ONE to answer to for anything. In which case, the fucked-up people in any conutry will just keep getting worse, because they start to think they too can get anyway with whatever they like, as the US seems to think.
cable, having a really good rep is not necessarily a great thing, you don't want to be a pushover. But having an extremely bad rep just makes your country more of a target, and nobody wants that. Mistreat one person, and the enemy grows in numbers as people get pissed off. I don't care if they are mistreating terrorists, but the US government needs to ensure people outside their country think they're still playing fair.
