I'm abstaining.

As a leech, I find RS good at times, lousy at times.

I heard about the points theft, and I think that it is wrong.

The point is that it's an excellent resource.I have a premium account which is downright cheap (so cheap that it isn't worth not having it if you follow my reasoning)
I know there are many other hosts but as RS is far and away the most widely used it doesn't make sense to have a premium account in any of the others.

Let's wait and see how the new system works. Without the possibility of get premium status for free lot of (not yet screwed) members will leave RS, also it seems like now you have to pay to upload on RS, perhaps I'm wrong but that's the way I understand the new rapids feature, but again, let's wait and see.

I am the world's biggest cheapskate, leech and total parasite so I accept that my opinion is probably worthless. However I have been watching the goings on at RS with some interest and I empathise with the premium and collector account holders who are not only being short-changed but worse, are being messed around and left unsure just WTF is going on now?

RS went through a phase recently when it was very nearly impossible for free users to download. This actually impacts on the real members of RS because each DL is a point (or is it a "rapid" these days?) plus I might just be helping to keep an old and unsecured file from being deleted. It struck me that RS are disappearing up their own backsides and the subsequent doings have re-inforced my impression.

RS seem to banking heavily on market dominance to get away with really selfish and erratic behaviour. The history of commerce is littered with the half-forgotten names of companies who thought they had their markets sewn up and needn't worry about customer service quality. Even Bethlehem Steel Corporation failed in 2001.

the part that really pisses me off about this entire thing is they pulled this shit a few years ago. They went from de to com. All points were wiped out.

I think that switch was for other reasons. And they did offer a way to keep your points from de. But I'm probably going to have to go through and switch my links to MU or something soon.

That's the spirit.

I personally don't give a shit about rapidshare changes because I don't upload there and my premium account (payd) also expired a few months ago. I can download as a free user - thank god the awful period scroundler mentioned is over.

Voted: no

Anyway... As long as nobody fucks with MegaUpload I'm happy.

I'm kind of in the same boat as KA. I don't upload anything and I the downloading isn't so bad. At least they don't have a bunch of popups and misleading/hidden links like some hosts.

The switch from de to com was probably just for all the morons on the net that think everyone ends in .com What's your address? Rapidshare.de. So that's Rapidshare.de.com? *facepalm*

Please warn before you start cleaning house on RS links. I may want to do some downloading first lol

The only major cleaning I'll be doing are mine, and I'll probably forget to do it anyway.

I've always tried to use non-RS mirrors because most people are free user leeches, and I figure they've already got a shitload of RS links qued up as it is.

The new structure on RS is great for downloaders. I always considered the monthly cost mroe than I was interested in paying. At least for the next few months while all the old links are around, I'm actually going to buy a premium account.

As an uploader, I just never understood RS. HF, DF, ES, NL, Uploading, all pay better. If you just upload for love of porn, then I personally prefer Badongo. The links live just as long, and no one uses it, and it has great download speeds for leeches.
Plus since I mostly upload high risk/high deleted stuff, I always use free accounts, and Badongo is one of the few that gives ftp access to free accounts.

RS has made a decision that in my opinion will probably kill them in the long run. I think anyone who goes back to RS after the way they've treated their uploaders, is a sadist. I don't really think a ban needs to be enforced. I think a private boycott is already in effect.

I have my premium account solely to download... so I will die if RapidShare is banned! *pouts* *cries* *throws things around*

But it does suck about the points being lost... my sympathies

1. RS Converted my Collector's account into a Premium.

2. RS is the only major hosting site with reasonable subsequent wait times that does NOT also require captcha, which means I can load up a billion links in Cryptload and then go to bed without needing to constantly monitor the DL's.

3. Is there an actual TECHNICAL issue with RS, or is this just one person posting an impromptu poll? If that's the case, I say use whatever you want. Personally, I think their upload speed sucks major ass. When hosting, I'd rather up to Megarotic or MediaFire, but when it comes to downloading, RS is still the preferred choice.

Now, for you people that seem to rely on hosting sites to supplement your income . . . GET A REAL FUCKING JOB. Jesus. It's not that serious. You're taking someone elses work and basing your monthly food budget on rather or not enough people downloaded it from YOU as opposed to someone else that uses another host??? "Sorry kids. You can't eat today because no one downloaded the double anal video that Daddy posted." If you don't like their business practices, then use another host.

Same here, but its useless... I cant download anything when logged in and all my points are worthless now.

I can't either, but that's never really been a priority for me, and I can still download RS links with Crypload without issue. Have you contacted RS about the problem?

RS PREMIUM DELETED

Hallo everybody,

RS changed the rules again, and in my personal opinion it happened too often in the last 12 months. My Collector account has been upgraded to a premium, with the loss of all the points I collected. More, I had bought in june a month premium account and, obviously, it has been upgraded also: unfortunately I had paid for a service, while I received a different one for the rest of the month. I'm absolutely disappointed with this politics of changing terms of a signed contract after having received money. Anyway, as I said, this is my personal opinion.
By now, my old collector's account is empty and waiting for being deleted.
I have already started to substitute all the expired RS links with new ones (megaupload & depositfiles).
Please, be patient.

Best!

m.

rapidshare issue

I keep getting an error msg like the one below whenever i try to download from a link that I ** DEAD LINK REMOVED ** to rapidshare. I'm trying to test the link to see if it works before i post it somewhere on a forum. I have a premium account set up and active. I am able to download rapidshare links as a premium userthat other people posted. Is there something new that is required?
Thank You

It seems like you are automatically logged in, so just do what it tells you to.
