this guy started a thread about this at another board I hit. are you using Zone Alarm? in his case, that was the problem, it seems

its definitly ZA
RS.com started using a new version of the Capcha app,it seems,(image style and time to load the image differ quite markedly to whats still being used on RS.com
the image file takes 7-10 secs to actually load, which seems too long for ZA

ok
turning cooie control ALL OFF in ZA seems to fix the issue, thou thats not too desireable, since warez sites i generally search in all tend to be shocking for nasty popups/cookies
ohh well, least i can download again, which is a good start

I had the same problem, no code appeared after the countdown.

After I selected Play animations in web pages in the IE Internet Options < Advanced < Multimedia section it is working now.

I can't say I'm happy about it. Another rapidshare.com crap:mad:

Could also be if you have a really slow connection, or another (torrent, etc.) program downloading that the site simply times out. Try hitting "Refresh" (F5) and let it count down again.

Seems like they're getting sued:

GEMA obtains injunctions against data exchange services

The German collecting society GEMA has obtained from the District
Court in Cologne temporary injunctions against the operator of the
data exchange services http://rapidshare.de and http://rapidshare.com. The
latter is said to have used copyright protected works of GEMA members
in an unlawful fashion. The services make virtual storage space
available into which users can upload content that is thereby made
publicly available to other users. GEMA spokesman Hans-Herwig Geyer
told heise online that the services should not be allowed to continue
to operate in their present form. The collecting society is now
demanding that the operator provide details on how many copyright
protected works of GEMA members are currently stored on the said sites.

According to GEMA, the service http://rapidshare.de in particular has at
times boasted of making some 15 million files available to its users.
The operator had however failed to obtain from GEMA a license for
making copyright protected files available, the collecting society
spokesman observed. To date RapidShare had claimed not to have any
knowledge of the content ** DEAD LINK REMOVED ** by the users and of not being in a
position to control the same, the spokesman continued. Through its
injunctions the District Court in Cologne had now however made it
clear to the company that the fact that it was the users and not the
operator of the services that ** DEAD LINK REMOVED ** the content onto the sites did
not, from a legal point of view, lessen the operator’s liability for
copyright infringements that occurred within the context of the
services, the spokesman added.

Harald Heker, the chairman of the executive board of GEMA, believes
the court's decisions will have repercussions on the way "Web 2.0
services" such as YouTube and MySpace will be treated in future. What
the decisions according to Mr. Heker show is that "the mere
circumstance of shifting acts of use to users and the purported
inability of the operator to control content do not relieve the
operator of a service from the copyright liability he/she/it possesses
for the content made available for download from the operator's
website(s)." (Robert W. Smith) / (anw/c't)

That smells like BS to me... I checked the DNS before and they were both registered to the same guys who owned both sites... On top of that rs.de harddrives were suddenly "full". And files started getting deleted like crazy.... On top of that they even had banners for the dot com.

It like it was a big scam... By doing that the millions of points collected = gone. In addition we also went back to the 100MB limit :(

No offense, but this forum isn't the right place for this discussion.
I mean we can talk about it, but you'll find at least 3 threads about it with 10 pages each in a filesharing forum or so.

So yes, rapidshare.com had ("has" for some people because of time zones) some problems this WE. Rumour says they were overloaded. This GEMA thing wasn't that big...

...but I'm convinced it'll go down like youtube.com (<="legal battles with TV channels") sometime. Not next week, but... maybe this or next year? Filesharing platforms became the second napster...Kazaa....you-name-it - network.

Damn, I am way too much into this.

Uploading to Rapidshare

Hi there,

Does anybody know any good tools for uploading to a rapidshare.com premium account?
It's such a pain in the arse for me with my puny upload speeds (20kbs), and uploads often just fail midway through.
Something akin to a download manager would be great, where i can queue uploads and resume broken ones. I've done a google search and can't seem to find anything.

thanks in advance!!
