Why has it been so damn cold lately? Well, blame it on the weak polar vortex. Normally when the polar vortex is strong, the vortex
stays in a tight circle around the artic circle but when it weakens (like it is now) the tight circle degrades & allows the cold air which
normally stays up north, to escape further south due to a weakened polar vortex. This is your meteorology 101 class for today...
