WCW's bread and butter was obviously the NWO. The creation was when their ratings took off and their popularity trailed off when the NWO did.

Even the best storylines can only last for so long. They really tri ed to stretch it out at the end with the uber-gay "Wolfpack" and shit like that. So I don't think that Vince necessarily killed WCW, I think he just put them out of their misery.

Without the NWO, WCW would have been (and might still be) about the size of TNA and there never would have been a "war" at all.

WOLFPACK WAS NOT UBER GAY:twisted: !And yeah id it wasn't for the nWo WCW would never become a rival company.Andyeah i thnik wcw kinda self destructed.Because during the late 90's WCW had the highedt rating. And had legendary charcters(Goldberg,Sting,DDP,nWo...).But after that they made a couople of stupid moves.Like they told Goldberg to smash a car window with his hand which led to goldberg being aout of action for a year(i think)doue to injuries on hs fist that nearly ended his carrer, they gave Russo the control over the company, the charters were getting stale and old nWo was breathing it's last breaths....and other numerous things.

Wolfpack kicked ass. The Jeff Jarret silver and black nWo was uber gay. I remember reading way back when that Goldberg iprovised the window bashing, so he has no one to blame but himself. The Jeff Jarret nWo was uber gay.

well obviously, the NWO grew way too big, it was very poor long term planning by the writers. Splitting it up into separate groups was a weak attempt at trying to salvage it, but it ended up killing it anyway.

What they should have done is not let it grow so big in the first place. Any group should never have more than 5 or 6 members.

I agree that the nWo storyline did go a bit too long but who didn't love the LWO with Eddie Guerrero as Leader.

The main problem with wcw was always that they never knew how to create characters. They just took stupid gimmicks like hugh morus for humorous, or captain e. rection, max muscle because he has big muscles and threw the wrestlers in the ring. They never created an aura around the characters.

WWF was always great at creating an aura around characters through vignettes, a real past to the characters, interviews by jim ross and wwf slowly put the wrestlers over with the crowd before giving them intercontinental title shots and then if they have star power they would get world title shots.Apart from sting and a few others, WCW was mainly unable to create fan captivating characters.

They compensated by giving 2 million to 4 millions dollars a year contracts to big name wwf stars like hogan, savage, nash, hall, hart. Those former wwf stars formed the leadership of nwo at first. The wcw ring was also too small for men with gigantic frames and for technical guys like hart. Most of bret's matches in wwf are great to watch. But most of his matches in wcw are painful to watch.Wcw brought bret hart and british bulldog to give a lethal blow to wwf programming. When they realised they failed they did'nt know what to do with hart, bulldog and turned neidhart into a jobber. WCW management also lacked a real leader .

Like savage said"too many indians and no chief ooooooooooooh yeaaaaaaaaaah".Ted turner only saw wcw as an investment. He did'nt knew much about rasslin. When the company was no longer profitable they made all the wrong decisions they could possibly make and wcw sinked faster tan the titanic ship. The only one to come out as a winner out of this sad ending is hogan as usual. He was able in wcw to succesfully evolve baby face character hulk hogan into evil heel character hollywood hogan while at the same time earning the maximum amount of money out of pro wrestling that a pro wrestler could ever dream of earning!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and all this whilst doing crappy z movies along the way.

You have to remember one huge reason that WCW failed wasbecause of wwe. The WWE was red f'n hot. Sell outs at every arena, huge ratings, stone cold the rock, mick foley, all in their prime. Also WCW was so bad that people like Jericho, Malenko, Benoit, Big Show, were leaving huge contracts to work for wwe for less money. When your employees are doing that there isn't much that Bischoff or whoever was in charge could do.

dont forget about Disco Inferno!!! lol

as far as Hart goes, he was pretty much washed up by then anyway and as we know, has quite a few "personal issues", so it wasn't all WCW's fault

Former WWE Diva Trish Stratus married her high school “sweetheart”, Ron yesterday. Several past and current divas attended the ceremony. Guests included Torrie Wilson, Lita, Maria, Lilian Garcia, Ashley Massaro, Ivory, and Victoria. The newlyweds will be honeymooning in Greece and then going to London.

RAW drew a really disappointing 3.4 rating last week and it seems the season premiere could not come sooner. ESPN's Monday Night Football scored a huge 11.8, the largest number in the ESPN history. WWE Officials are looking to see if the Cena/Edge Steel Cage match this week might give the ratings a much-needed boost, however with the feud already having stretched across the whole of the current year, it remains to be seen if there is any improvement on the ratings.

WWE really should watch out. TNA may start giving them some
competition. One can only hope!!!

Tazz's current announcing contract with WWE expires at the end of this year. He is currently in the renegotiation process with WWE. According to reports, he also tried out for a satellite radio job as a possible fallback plan. Some feel he tried out so he could gain a better deal with WWE and has even reportedly offended some people by playing hardball with the company.

On another related announcing note, Jim Ross' contract with WWE expires next month. There is said to be little chance that he will be leaving WWE, especially now that the company realizes how important he is to the Monday Night Raw announcing team when attempts to sign Mike Goldberg away from UFC failed

WWE's trying to get both Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin to appear at the 10/9 three-hour RAW special.

Papa Roach's single "To Be Loved" off their new album "Paramour Sessions" will be the new official opening theme song for WWE RAW each week on USA Network.

It's possible the new theme will debut tonight, although with next week's show being billed as the season opener, it'd make more sense that the song begins with that show.
That sucks I like the old song.

The MSNBC section of MSN.com today has an article up regarding the recent height in popularity the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) is generating right now. What makes this story "newsworthy" on a wrestling website is that strong business comparisons are made to World Wrestling Entertainment. One part of the article boasts quote, "According to industry sources, UFC's most successful pay-per-view event this year generated more than $30 million in revenue, a sum that beats WrestleMania's $23 million haul and HBO's typical $16 million from a night of boxing." Live gate revenue is also discussed in the article adding quote, "Live fights are also popular: August's UFC 62 at Mandalay Bay in Vegas generated a $3.1 million live gate, more than any WWE event this year." I don't think it is any secret right now that the UFC is doing much better business both pay per view and live event wise than World Wrestling Entertainment at the moment (not to say WWE is doing horrible, but they are no where near UFC numbers right now). Although many wrestling fans may not watch the product, the same demographic is there for wrestling and real fighting regardless and I think it is safe to say that many former wrestling fans are tuning out the current product in favor of MMA. We can only assume how upset WWE officials will be when word of his article makes the rounds

I think the UFC has a lot of credibility because its more "real" and it sells itself as actual fighting, rather than "sports entertainment". So it would attract a lot of the people who are in it for the action, rather than the soap opera and boobies.

I myself prefer the soap opera and boobies lol

The sopa opera can be good if someone can lock the mcmahons in their office and away from a microphone.Allow people like carlito to use the mic and it can be entertaining

When it comes to boobies, with the departure of stratus, a big void is left:crazy: who can fill it?If only tammy sytch can find her sunny body again:eyebulge:
